Tournmant Recap

On the evening of Sunday, September 5, ten duelists gathered for the Talon of Redwin Tournament -- a lower ranked, single-elimination tournament, honoring the legacy of Siera Redwin, a legendary Overlord and Baron. The winner of the tournament recieves a dirk carrying Siera Redwin's crest that had been awarded by Siera to her men in a similar tournament and the title of the Duel of Swords' Talon of Redwin for the cycle.

The competitors were seated according to the order in which their entries were received. The dead body of the former baroness, Jenia, showed up and was matched against Bacchia D'Angelo for the start. With an aggressive start, this match didn't slow much and Jenia came out the winner after six bloody rounds. A fourteen year old student of Stick's, Sami Zayn, faced the ever interesting Wokket. With her teacher looking on, Sami took an early lead against Wokket and never looked back. Tim Enralyte did not last long in the tournament as the young swordsman, Cyan Bloodbane, took an impressive 5.5-1 win after nine rounds. Severe returned after a long absence from the rings but Onyx Solare found him a bit rusty. She kicked him out of the tournament and advanced to the next round. A tournament isn't a Duel of Swords tournament without at least one Graziano. Tony Graziano made a rare appearance but did not stay long as a previous Talon competitor, Bronwyn of Tyr, took a 5.5-2 win.

As Cyan Bloodbane was the first entry received, he was also the top seed. With five duelists left, Cyan got to take a breather. The dead need no breathers as Jenia proved to Onyx. Onyx's whip wasn't tough enough and she fell from the tournament. Sami Zayn took an early lead over Bronwyn but seemed to grow tired in the later rounds, dropping the points as quickly as she had taken them. Bronwyn over took the young woman and ended her run in the tournament.

As the earliest entry left in the competition that hadn't received a bye yet, Bronwyn got to take the easy road into the final match. Jenia and Cyan Bloodbane faced off in the ring with much of the small crowd rooting for the young upstart over the undead zombie. The zombie took a commanding early lead at one time extending it to 4-1 and putting herself a point from the final match. Cyan Bloodbane zoomed back with several cuts and a slash stopping defense which gave him the win and the ticket into the final match.

Cyan Bloodbane again found himself down and out early into the match. The woman drove the swordsman down to a 3.5-0 deficit before Cyan started battling his way back. He dropped beneath Bronwyn's high attack for a full point, took a half point by clearing himself of her lunge, and then put himself a point away from a tie score by scoring with a high blow. His rally was stopped as his risky slash failed to land and Bronwyn extended her lead with her own high blow. She followed that up by quickly ending this one with a reverse low to take the 5.5-2.5 win in ten rounds.

I am honored to name Bronwyn of Tyr the Duel of Swords' third Talon of Redwin.
