The challenge was settled in the "best of three" format, with only two duels being necessary. The defender had near complete control of the first duel, winning 5.5-2 in 9 rounds. The second duel went longer and the score was closer, but Tarl was able to win the duel 5-3 in 11 to retain his hold on the Barony.
